Generic Propecia

Propecia is a FDA-approved treatment for male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia). Its active ingredient finasteride works by preventing a chemical called dihydrotosterone from shrinking the hair follicles even further. As a result, the patient can observe only insignificant hair loss and decrease of the balding spot.

For Propecia to work properly, it needs to be taken regularly and indefinitely. If you stop the treatment, you will lose all the progress achieved within 12 months. Anyone starting to use Propecia must be aware of the fact this drug is taken for as long as the patient needs the result.

Women that are pregnant or intend to get pregnant soon should handle Propecia with care. Every tablet is coated to prevent the active ingredient from being absorbed in the skin. If a woman is exposed to a crushed tablet of Propecia, she has to wash the area affected and consult a doctor for further guidance.

Propecia causes almost no side effects. The very few side effects likely to happen were found in just 2% of males participating in the clinical trials, such as trouble getting an erection, decreased sex drive and decreased amount of semen. The side effects stopped when the patient stopped the treatment.

Another great advantage of Propecia (and the reason why so many males choose to use it for their baldness instead of going for more affordable home remedies) is that it can be safely combined with any other drugs the patient is using. There are no known interactions between finasteride and other drugs, prescription or over-the-counter kinds.
